Canadians handle Rapids
CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians had 13 different skaters register at least one point to help them defeat the Rayside-Balfour Canadians 7-2 Saturday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Chelmsford Arena.
French River would open the scoring 7:19 into the contest as Caleb Rich collected his sixth goal of the season for his side.
Rayside-Balfour answered that a couple shifts later as Bradley Chenier knocked in his ninth of the campaign.
The Canadians then took the lead with 34 seconds left in the first as Cayse Ton set-up Danny Lepage.
Rayside-Balfour kept coming in the second stanza notching three tallies off the sticks of Ryan Erickson, Jayme Forslund and Makenzie MacMillan to take a 5-1 cushion into the final frame.
Then Matt Neault added to the Canadians lead just 13 seconds into the third.
The Rapids got one back with a shorthanded tally scored by Brett McInall while Erickson added another for the hosts midway through the session to round out the scoring.
Rayside-Balfour outshot French 49-15 on the night with MacKenzie Savard picking up the win while Alec St-George suffered the setback.
