COCHRANE, Ont. – Zach Hayes had the game-winning goal and added a later assist to help the Cochrane Crunch collect their fifth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League victory in a row Saturday as they defeated the Timmins Rock 4-1 at Tim Horton Event Centre.
T.J. Delaney started Cochrane off offensively with the lone marker of the first frame as he supplied his 12th tally of the season at 8:35.
Hayes then put in the eventual decider 4:15 into the middle stanza before helping set-up Clay Ellerbrock in the latter stages of the session to put the home side up by three after 40 minutes.
Evan Kentish-Stack got Timmins on the board with an early third period power play marker to bring the visitors to within two, but Crunch captain Connor Lovie answered that with a man advantage marker of his own in the late going to help secure the victory.
Taylor Unruh finished with 29 saves to pick-up the win for Cochrane.
Tyler Masternak meanwhile faced 30 shots in defeat for the Rock.
