Crunch clip Eagles 7-2
SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Cochrane Crunch got two goals from Joseph Thielen and three assists courtesy of Seamus Maguire to help them clip the Soo Eagles 7-2 Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Pullar Stadium.
Tyler Minoletti staked Cochrane to an early lead in this one connecting 2:43 in only to see the Eagles tie it with two seconds remaining in the opening period thanks to Landon Hubbard.
After Thielen put the visitors back in front again in the second, Levi Rowan tied it for the Eagles on the power play midway through the contest.
The Crunch went back in front for good before the middle session was complete on tallies by Lucas Robinson and Zach Renfrew.
Cochrane then put the game away in the third getting tallies from Thielen as well as Dustin Cordeiro, who supplied his league-leading 16th to round out the scoring.
Brett Young finished with 31 stops to record the decision for Cochrane while Jack Hickey saw 49 shots fired his way in defeat for the Eagles.
