NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Nolan Newton (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and Harry Clark (Timmins Rock), along with defenceman Mason Chitaroni (Greater Sudbury Cubs) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending April 14.

NOLAN NEWTON, (F) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS:
In a trio of triumphs to close out the West Final against Blind River, Newton collected a league-best eight points, including notching a NOJHL-high four goals along the way.

Featured in the 18-year-old from French River, Ont., efforts saw him pick-up six points, in which he registered his initial playoff hat trick and had his third game-winning marker, which ties him for league-lead.

Pacing Greater Sudbury in playoff scoring, Newton has 16 points in 11 outings on nine tallies and seven assists.

HARRY CLARK, (F) TIMMINS ROCK:
The 20-year-old Clark etched his name on the game sheet in all three contests the Rock had during the time frame to run a consecutive game point streak to six in succession.

Skating for his hometown Timmins side, he picked up seven points in all, including scoring three times, helping the Rock force a Game 7 Tuesday versus Powassan.

Clark enters that match-up leading the NOJHL in postseason numbers with 18 points, in 10 games, on nine tallies and as many helpers.

MASON CHITARONI, (D) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS:
A solid contributor at both ends of the ice, Chitaroni had points in all three Cubs’ wins last week to help them punch their ticket to the league championship series.

The 19-year-old blueliner from Marathon, Ontario had five assists in total, including one on the series-clinching goal versus the Beavers.

Chitaroni currently leads all NOJHL defencemen in playoff scoring, in having helped set-up 11 tallies, in as many games.
