COCHRANE, Ont. – Stewart Parnell potted the game-winner with 26 seconds remaining in overtime as the Timmins Rock pulled out a 2-1 triumph over the Cochrane Crunch in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter Saturday at Tim Horton Events Centre.
Timmins provided the lone tally of the first frame when Tyler Schwindt picked up his seventh marker of the year with help from Riley Brousseau and Zach Smith.
Neither side would convert in a scoreless middle frame as the Rock took their 1-0 lead into the next stanza.
Moving on to the third, Cochrane would collect the equalizer midway through the session when Tyson Moore finished off a Stephen Minichiello feed at 9:56 to help send the contest to extra time.
In the OT, the Rock prevailed late as a Timmins attempt towards the goal clipped off the glove of Crunch netminder Zach Wickson and skipped right to a waiting Parnell at the left of the crease as he promptly banged in the decider into the open side to give the guests the victory.
Rock starter Tyler Masternak made 28 saves to record the win while Wickson faced 31 attempts in defeat, but did help Cochrane earn a point in the setback.
