CHELMSFORD, Ont. – A free-wheeling Rayside-Balfour Canadains saw rookie forwards Ethan Larmand and Nicholas DeGrazia collect a combined seven points between them to lead their side to an 11-2 decision over the Elliot Lake Wildcats in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter Thursday at Chelmsford Arena.
Elliot Lake did get the early edge, striking 51 seconds into the contest on an Eric Vanderhoff effort.
Avery Chisholm tied it for the hosts midway through the first period though before teammate DeGrazia put the Canadians on top just over a minute later.
Battling back, the Wildcats drew level at 13:02 off the stick of Austin Brunet.
However, the home side saw DeGrazia score once more with Samuel Vachon adding another to put them up 4-2 after one.
The Canadians then broke it open in the second stanza with a trio of unanswered tallies to extend their lead.
Larmand, making his NOJHL debut, got the first one early on, while Zachary Hausman and Gavin Brown added later markers to account for the Rayside-Balfour offensive outburst.
Heading to the third, Brown bagged another while Oliver Smith notched his team-leading eighth before Alexander Fowke and Mitchell Martin finished off the one-side decision.
David Bowen faced 25 chances in picking up the win for RBC while Wildcats goalkeeper Dominic Boily was peppered with 53 shots in defeat.
