ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners received a 35-save performance from their goaltender Kohl Reddy who helped lead his side to a 3-1 triumph over the Espanola Express in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Saturday at the Regional Recreation Complex.
Espanola did open the scoring 6:44 in as A.J. Favot picked up his second of the season with assists going to Mattias Salem and Lukas Lyszyk.
Kirkland Lake countered midway through the opening frame with Casey Gerstein tallying for a third straight outing to knot the affair at 1-1 after 20 minutes.
The Gold Miners then came out quickly in the second stanza by scoring twice before the session was five minutes in.
Camille Marcoux was there to notch the eventual game-winner at 3:55 while Caleb Thompson netted his 10th of the year a couple of shifts later.
Reddy did the rest by not allowing another to get past him as his 35 saves earned him first star honours while he also won his fourth start in a row.
Express netminder Carson Boutin meanwhile faced 36 attempts in defeat.
