ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Timmins Rock skated out in an impressive first period by striking four times as they went on to defeat the Elliot Lake Wildcats 10-0 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League meeting Friday evening at Centennial Arena.
Timmins came at the Wildcats hard in that opening and were up by a pair before the contest was three and a half minutes old on tallies from Karter Renouf, via the power play, and Josh Dickson, at even strength.
The Rock then went up by three at 11:33 as Evan Beaudry bagged his second goal of the season.
Not down there, the guests added another just over a minute later thanks to captain Derek Seguin’s 14th which was also his 60th career NOJHL marker.
Up a skater to commence the middle session, Timmins tacked on another thanks to Phil Caron to further his club’s lead.
The onslaught continued when the Rock tacked on two more courtesy of Seguin and Renouf to blow it open.
Going to the power play, Timmins kept rolling with Tyler Schwindt increasing the visitors big lead at 13:58.
Not down there, Dickson added another early in the third, giving him a career season-high 14 tallies so far this season.
Caron then finished off the one-sided affair in the late going to wrap things up.
Vance Meyer finished with 18 saves to record his NOJHL-leading fourth shutout of the season while Jonathan Lemaire was peppered with 71 shots against in the loss.
