SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles rallied from a two-goal deficit in the second period and proceeded to supply seven unanswered markers from there in skating to an eventual 7-2 decision over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League West Division match-up Friday at Pullar Stadium.
First period play saw Rayside-Balfour gain the upper hand as they tallied twice in the session on markers from Evan Krassey and Noah Serre.
Action in the second stanza saw Sault Ste. Marie cut into the deficit at 8:39 on the fifth goal of the season from Ryan Dacks.
The Eagles continued to soar in the session as they tacked on two more to take a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes on goals from Brett Morich and Caleb Wood.
The Michigan Soo kept clicking offensively in the final frame as they piled on four more markers to win going away.
Finding the back of the net in the third for the Eagles were Dominic Skrelja, Owen Shier, Alec Schwab while Wood added another during a man advantage opportunity.
Soo D-man Mikey Butcher chipped in with a trio of assists in the triumph.
Shane Brancato made 29 stops to earn the decision in net for the Eagles who fired 55 attempts on the Canadians goal.
Sebastien Plamondon suffered the loss allowing six against on 51 shots while David Bowen handled three of four in eight and a half minutes of relief.
